Taste the best of Lincolnshire with this guide to charming farm shops and cosy cafés, where local produce and warm welcomes await.

DODDINGTON HALL FARM SHOP

Opened in 2007, Doddington’s award-winning Farm Shop was born out of a passion for good quality, seasonal, local food.

You’ll find fruit and vegetables with zero food miles freshly picked from the fabulous Kitchen Garden (back in production after a 50-year absence), beef in the Butchery is often from their very own herd of Lincolnshire Red Cattle along with an abundance of other produce from local suppliers.

Their full to bursting Deli counter celebrates the fantastic cheeses produced locally, as well as some from further afield, fabulous scotch eggs from The Handmade Scotch Egg Company and a range of wonderful pies and snacks to go.

Their Hambleton Farms Butchery counter stocks quality local and rare-breed meats traditionally reared and properly hung to promote the best flavour. Sausages, local game, home-made pork pies and their cured bacon are also in plentiful supply. The butchery is equipped with a special dry ageing fridge and large display counters to showcase their wide selection of products.

Stock up on your larder essentials (and those not-so-essentials) from their extensive range of chutneys, jams, pickles, pesto, sauces, pasta, chocolates, sweet treats and crisps. Enough to inspire the most jaded of cooks. Their customers’ favourites include Doddington Estate Honey, Doddington recipe marmalade and their very own Apple Juice made using the apples from the orchard.

Their wine shop is packed with amazing wines from around the globe and an extensive selection of the very best English wine.

NONNA JUANA DELI

Nonna Juana is a deli run by Maria Herraiz and Juan Andres specialising in fresh pasta. The couple fuse both Spanish and Argentinian influences to create a delicious array of handmade produce. As a child, Juan’s grandmother taught him to make pasta and so the business is named in her honour.

On any given day visitors to the deli will find the counter heaving with pasta, bread, pastries and more. Filled ravioli is a particular speciality and includes: spinach, ricotta and hazelnut; blue cheese, date, almond and mint; chicken with Mediterranean herbs and butternut squash. You’ll also find sandwiches made with homemade focaccia and plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, including vegetable pastries.

Those with a sweet tooth will certainly be delighted by the cakes – perhaps a slice of Dulce de Leche cheesecake or lemon meringue pie appeals? We’d be happy with either!
